Fishing in Summer

Today, the Sesia River is among the most well-known in Italy for sport fishing enthusiasts.

The first "regulation" governing fishing in the Sesia River appeared in 1478, when this practice was likely widespread as a means of sustenance.

Today, the Sesia River is among the most well-known in Italy for sport fishing enthusiasts: the clarity and richness of its waters are among the most appreciated characteristics of this important watercourse, which is a natural habitat for many species.

The Sesia River also boasts a truly vast basin, around 300km of rivers, streams, and canals, plus about fifteen pristine alpine lakes, all in a scenic natural setting with alternating lush clearings, flat areas, and steep gorges.

The river heritage and the practice of sport fishing are regulated by the Società Valsesiana Pescatori Sportivi (S.V.P.S.): except for special regulation fishing areas, access to the waters is granted through annual, fortnightly, and daily permits, in addition to the government permit.
