It's not just the leaves that change color in autumn, but also the water: the people of Valsesia say that during this period, the water "falls in love." All the hues become more intense: even the stones, which the clarity of the Sesia reveals perfectly, take on a dark, almost black color.
Moreover, in autumn, with the closing of the trout fishing season, the Blue-Finned Grayling fishing season opens. This beautiful, prized, and very rare fish has been nearly wiped out over the years by riverbed management interventions, water pollution, and disastrous floods. The Sesia River is one of the few in Piedmont and Italy that still conserves and protects this species, thanks to its pristine waters and the efforts of the Valsesia Fishing Society. To promote the best possible repopulation and safeguard the Blue-Finned Grayling, which is at great risk of extinction, No-Kill fishing has been practiced for years.
