Last week, at the Casa dell’Architettura in Rome, in the presence of over 300 spectators, the award ceremony for the third edition of the 'La Ceramica e il Progetto' competition took place, aiming to recognize the best architectural projects made with Italian ceramic tiles.
The competition, organized by Confindustria Ceramica, has reached its third edition and saw the participation of 140 projects from all over Italy and abroad.
Seven projects were awarded.
"The jury, composed of architects Cino Zucchi (director of the Italian Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Biennale), Sebastiano Brandolini, and Michele Capuani, awarded a special mention to the project of the new 'Pietre Gemelle Wellness & Spa' in Riva Valdobbia, designed by architects Claudia Colla, Davide Gavinelli, and Corrado Gavinelli.
This is how the jury expressed themselves:
"The project interacts, within a path of 'well-being,' with a series of inventions, both in the use of ceramic materials and in the composition of spaces, a true sequence of openings, partial 'closures,' and thus the rediscovery of unexpected points of view, all governed wisely also in terms of artificial light. In this case, though differently from other projects, 'nature and artifice' interact, still leaving the visitor with their own perceptual and experiential autonomy."
